Junko Theresa Mikuriya
Junko Theresa Mikuriya is a professional photographer living in London. She is Senior Lecturer in Photography at the University of West London and Honorary Fellow in the School of Arts, University of Kent.

Theresa has more than two decades of experience as a freelance photographer in the fashion and music industries. She also has a PhD in Cultural Studies from Goldsmiths, University of London. Her work ranges from fashion editorials for Elle, FHM, GQ, Marie-Claire, Men's Uno, album covers for clients such as EMI, Rock Records, Sony Music and Virgin Records, to advertising campaigns for clients such as l’Oréal. She has shot the album covers for Jackie Chan, Wallace Chung, Takeshi Kaneshiro and Karen Mok. Theresa's book A History of Light: The Idea of Photography is published by Bloomsbury.

As a photographer, Theresa is known for the intuitive way in which she approaches her subject matter and her use of available light. She is called "The Gunslinger" in the Taiwanese music industry due to the speed, agility and precision in which she captures her subjects.

Originally from Taipei, Theresa completed a B.A. degree in French at University College London and a M.A. in French literature at the University of Paris-Sorbonne (Paris IV). She studied photography at SPEOS, the Paris Photographic Institute. She received her Ph.D. from the Centre for Cultural Studies, Goldsmiths University of London in 2010.
